Back! And more movie meme

I am back from Ireland, and it was glorious and wonderful. Much hiking through fields and pastures was done to get to great piles of rocks. There will be photo/travel posts to come, but I first have to sort through things, and then get them uploaded.

For now, I'm going to get back to that movie meme thing.

1998: I Went Down (I have a weird love of this very weird Irish gangster road comedy movie. It's also nearly impossible to find a copy of, so I apologize in advance.)

Honorable Mentions: Bedrooms and Hallways (There are problems I have with this movie, but it's entirely worth it for the dream sequences. And more, but especially the dream sequences.), Out of Sight, The Prince of Egypt (the most appropriately disturbing animated musical numbers EVER), Soldier (CLAM-O-RAMA)

1999: Ravenous (I love this movie. So. Much. And it's one of those movies where I've got to recommend you find the DVD/BluRay and listen to ALL 3 commentary tracks, for they are worth it.)

Honorable Mentions: The Boondock Saints (It's so insane, I love it.), Galaxy Quest, Titus (Who knew 1999 would be the year of the great movies with cannibalism?)

2000: Big Eden (This was in one theater in town for a week and a half. I was out of work at the time, and saw it 5 times in the theater, and brought people with me. It's still one of my favorite go-to watches, and has one scene that is guaranteed to make me tear up Every. Single. Time.)

Honorable Mentions Pitch Black, Memento (Such a brilliantly constructed movie, and it's one that plays to one of my favorite tropes: the unreliable narrator.), X-Men, Unbreakable (I love this, most of all for Bruce Willis's quiet, wonderful performance.)

2001: Brotherhood of the Wolf (I LOVE this movie so much. I also drove myself nuts trying to reconcile dates in my head when writing a Yuletide story for it, and STILL love this movie so much.) (Still one of my biggest WTF moments of seeing someone bring their 6 year old little girl in to the theatre to watch it, and wondering what, exactly, they thought they were doing. I don't think they made it through the opening sequence, which is, of course, extremely violent.)

Honorable Mentions: The Fast and the Furious (What have you wrought? But damn, that was fun), Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings (This is a RIDICULOUS year for fannish films, seriously.), Ocean's 11 (I need Danny/Rusty, always).

2002: Equilibrium (I saw this movie in the theater, and left laughing. I have never had more fun going to see a movie in my life. It will never make anyone's Best Movies of All Time list, but it's towards the top of my favorites.)

Honorable Mentions: 28 Days Later (My favorite kind of horror movie: one that acknowledges that no matter what is out there, humans are the best heroes and the worst monsters.), Reign of Fire (Right up there with Equilibrium. Plus DRAGONS!)
